Soulfest

This has been a year. We have been restricted from connecting with others. We have been adding masks to our accessory collection. Someone is missing out on an active psychological experiment. I think we are all about to crack. It’s important to do what is right for you. Not everyone is going to agree with it. Fun fact, I am not here for a popularity contest.

I decided to go on a girl’s trip to a remote town in Virginia. A house was rented and we have spent our time reading, laughing, watching movies, and cooking delicious food. It has fed my soul. Don’t worry, we are being safe. Mask wearing is our jam along with maintaining our distance. People are going to judge and that’s cool. What works for you may not work for me. It is not my job to enlighten you.

This fueling time with this small group of friends has given me some hope that one day this will happen regularly. The last few months of recovering from foot surgery along with the overwhelming needs of my mother has left my emotional fuel tank dangerously low. I desperately need my friends face to face with our decorative masks adorning our adorable faces. I know I am not the only one in this conundrum. I realize that we have all sacrificed ourselves because of this situation. It has been draining for every single human on the planet.

In this beautiful space residing in the woods, I am filling myself up and remembering that this too shall pass. We won’t always be in a Pandemic and that we will appreciate our personal connections even more. I know I already do.
